Securing Your Account with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Adding an extra layer of security to your Static.app account is one of the best ways to keep your hosted websites and personal data safe. By enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), your account will require both your password and a unique, time-sensitive code from an authenticator app whenever you sign in.

How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Navigate to the Security Section

1. Log in to your Static.app dashboard.
2. Look for your profile icon or name located in the top right corner.
3. Click on it, select Account from the drop-down menu, and navigate to the Security page.
4. Locate the Two-Factor Authentication section and click the Enable 2FA button to begin the setup process.

Configure Two-Factor Authentication

1. Open your preferred authenticator app on your mobile device (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password ).
2. Scan the QR code displayed on your screen using the app. Alternatively, if you cannot scan the code, enter the provided text key manually into your app.
3. Static.app will also generate a list of Recovery codes. Store these codes somewhere safe. Each code can be used once if you ever lose access to your authenticator app.
4. Check your authenticator app for the active 6-digit code tied to your Static.app account.
5. Enter this code into the Verification code field on your screen and carefully review it for accuracy.
6. Click the final Enable 2FA button to securely store your details.

Once successfully added, your new security setup will be visible in the Security section, and 2FA will be used for all future account sign-ins.

How to Disable Two-Factor Authentication

If you ever need to remove the authenticator app requirement from your account, you can quickly disable it.

1. Locate the Two-Factor Authentication section. You will see a confirmation message stating: "Two-factor authentication has been enabled. Your account is protected with an authenticator app."
2. Open your authenticator app to find your current 6-digit code.
3. Enter the code from your authenticator into the provided field.
4. Click the Disable 2FA button to remove the extra security layer successfully.
